Folding is distributed computing. F olks at Stanford University perform computational modeling to help find treatments for diseases such as COVID-19, Parkinson’s, and other maladies. These are yuuge calculations that they chop up into work units and dish the WUs out to volunteer computers all over the world. Graphics processors, GPUs, do this work very well and if you have a kickin’ gaming GPU, it’s perfect for this work. F@h assigns points for work completed, and we currently have 172 GPUs and CPUs owned by opponauts and their friends, and together, we’ve amassed over 1. 5 billion points since we formed the team on Easter .
And once you complete your first Work Unit, you are entitled to receive a TEAM OPPOSITELOCK Official Team Sticker!

I actually damaged my laptop running Folding @ H ome in the last heatwave... battery blew the thermal fuse and killed itself. I have since replaced the battery, but I’m a little nervous about starting up the folding again.

That’s why I stopped using my laptop out of fear and had used my dormant 2080ti. Family, of course, was not amused by the sudden spike in electricity bills but understood the reasoning, thankfully.
